Smokin' Bettie's is based in Cleveland, Ohio, where they make small-batch BBQ sauces rooted in Texas-style tradition using mesquite smoke flavoring throughout.
It sticks to the Texas tradition by using only mesquite smoke flavoring, and the recipe is built around an even balance of sweet, smoke, and spice. No single flavor dominates, which makes it versatile across a wide range of dishes.
It has a spice element as part of the three-flavor balance, but it's not a hot sauce. The heat sits alongside the sweetness and smoke rather than leading the flavor.
