Mitlitsky Eggs

Robinson's eggs

Mitlitsky Egg Farm has been providing Northeast consumers with farm-fresh, high-quality eggs since 1964. Their family-owned business, spanning four generations, began by selling eggs to stores of all sizes throughout Connecticut. Here is how it all started:

  • 1964 – Chaim and wife Ada Tyles emigrate from Israel to the United States. Shortly after their arrival, Tyles Eggs is established in Lebanon, CT by Chaim and his father Lejzor Tyles. Production starts, Chaim starts going door to door to local stores.
  • 1966 – Rich Tyles was born.
  • 1972 – Chaim purchases the property from Lejzor. Chaim legally changes last name from Tyles to Mitlitsky, along with Ada and children Rich, May, and Rosy. Tyles Eggs is renamed to Mitlitsky Eggs.
  • 1974 – Mitlitsky Eggs starts advertising in the local Willimantic Chronicle newspaper to sell farm fresh eggs on the property. Chaim increases local wholesale and retail business across Connecticut.
  • 1979 – Rich Mitlitsky at 13 years old negotiates purchase of Mitlitsky Eggs’ first delivery truck from local dealer, a 1980 GMC Brigadier.
  • 1980 – Chicken coops were expanded to hold capacity of around 100,000 birds.
  • 1988 – Rich graduates from University of Connecticut and joins Mitlitsky Eggs full time. Rich and Chaim decide to add another truck to the fleet. This is the first truck with the Mitlitsky Eggs livery.
  • 1992 – Rich and Chaim purchase first 10 wheeler delivery truck.
  • 1995 – Mitlitsky Eggs expands delivery into New York City. First tractor and trailer were purchased.
  • 2001 – In house egg production stops, Rich and Chaim decide to focus on building relationships with other local egg farms to produce and pack.
  • 2004 – Mitlitsky Eggs breaks into first major regional retail chain, begins expansion in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
  • 2010 – Warehouse is expanded and modernized to accommodate retail and wholesale customer growth.
  • 2012 – Rich’s first cousin, Chaim’s nephew Hershal Tyles joins the business, bringing prior egg industry knowledge and experience with him.
  • 2024 – Rich’s son Matt Mitlitsky joins the business.
